Have you ever had that one moment in time, that one flash of being in total control of your life, where nothing and nobody exists except yourself, and where you feel as though you are flying without wings? Hopefully, you have. I have had such moments, times when the world doesn’t seem like such a bad place to be. Anyone can experience these moments; it is simply a matter of choice.
It is funny how we all know what will bring us happiness, but very few of us are willing to take the time to consciously create what happens to us tomorrow. If your today is much like your yesterday and the day before that, then what will you do today that will break the cycle?
Many of us have become complacent with our lives; we seem content to just watch others fulfill their own dreams, all the while feeling as though something is missing. So what can you do today, right here and now, to experience something different in your life? As my dad used to say, “Do something, even if it’s wrong.” I still get a kick out of that one.
The meaning behind my father’s advice is that we all need to get out and do something, even though that something may turn out to be the wrong thing to do, but at least we would be doing something; we would be making an effort, and it is that effort that will put you in sync with the Law of Attraction.
As many of you already know, the Law of Attraction works by default, meaning it is at work whether or not we are aware of its presence. This universal law does not discriminate, it simply exists and operates and gives according to our thoughts and actions. Too many times, we send mixed signals. For instance, we may want a better, higher-paying job, but we sit around the house waiting for our desire to suddenly appear. Our actions don’t match and desires. If we are to ever manifest anything into our lives, then we must act, walk, and talk in a way that confirms our willingness to accept our desires, as well as our expectation of those same desires.
In the midst of all our troubles hides a world of endless possibilities, opportunities to go beyond the doubts we have concerning our ability to change any circumstance or situation. If you believe that your life sucks, then I would bet anything that it does, indeed, suck. However, if you are going through a difficult time but believe that you can change your circumstance or situation and then take action to do so, then I guarantee your life will soon take a turn for the better. It is basic quantum physics.
So how do you begin to change your current situation or circumstance? Get the thought, focus, and then take action. In an abusive relationship? Get out of it. Don’t have the money to leave and support yourself? Then create the money. Take action right now and acquire the skills needed to get a great job. Check with local human resource agencies; there is money for people such as yourself, people who want to better themselves with an education but unable to afford it. Also try student loans, or better still, government grants that you don’t have to repay and available to low-income individuals, and there is no credit check. If there is a career that you always wanted, then now is the time to pursue that dream.
No matter your situation, if you want it to change then you must act. Again, nothing will change until you change your mind and do something different. It is interesting to note that all over-achievers have one thing in common-they sacrificed their time. Successful people are able to see how giving up a little leisure time now will allow them to have more play-time in the future.
People are always asking me how I managed to turn my life from a meager existence, full of pain and sorrow, into a life of abundance and happiness. So, here you go (this may hurt a little, so scoot back).
Completely broke, and with no place to call home, I decided to forego six months of my life. Really, I did. I committed to spending each and every day studying; I began by making a list of things I thought would improve myself the most. Of course I needed to learn how to make money, so I pondered skills I would need in order to do so. I had always had a love for writing but had no formal training, so I first read all I could find about grammar and punctuation (although my publisher still yells at me for my comma placements).
I also knew I would love to be able to work from home. So, I knew I would have to learn how to make a website. This was a little difficult at first because I had no idea where to begin. I would like to note that if any of you have dreamed of building and operating your own website, then just shoot me an email and I will gladly point you in the right direction; it is not difficult, once you learn how not to build a website.
Next, I wanted to learn how to invest money. Watch out, Wall Street! I have to say that I spent countless hours studying about investing. My conclusion? There are no special skills required, just learn the terminology, use common sense, and you are set. One thing I learned about investing, and what surprised me the most, was that you don’t have to have a lot of money to start. Heck, fifty bucks and you are off. A good place to start is at Sharebuilder, part of ING Direct, which only charges four dollars per trade, and you can do it all online in the comfort of your pj’s. Want to practice first? WeSeed.com is a great way to begin trading without any risk. It is real-time trading with play money. Pick stock that you think will do really well, and then sit back and see how it does each day. Again, it is the real thing, with no risk. I still do this for fun; however, there is a chance that you will get sick to your stomach as you watch your stock picks rise, knowing that you would have made a ton of money if you had invested for real! Check it out, it’s great.
How do I know which stocks to choose? I close my eyes and point. Okay, so I don’t do it that way, but it may surprise you to know that I don’t spend a whole lot of time picking stock. My close friends will tell you that I pick stock based upon one thing-common sense. Huh? Yes, common sense. For instance, it is no secret that all those baby boomers are retiring into old age. Guess what? That will place a huge burden on the healthcare industry. So? Well, l would suggest looking into stock from companies within this industry. Focus on those companies who provide products and services for the elderly. This is just one example of many possibilities.
As you can see, success is all about planning. Take the time and learn all you can. In deciding to forego six months of my life, I was able to see that I could continue on my present course, remaining in the same situation six months from that point, or I could do something different, sacrificing time that I surely would have wasted lying around watching television.
I challenge you, starting now, to spend at least one hour a day learning something new. Where will you be six months from now? Will you have acquired a new skill? Or will six months from now be a mirror of your today?
We all long for that day when we are flying without wings; unfortunately, for many, that day will never come. I encourage everyone to take an active part in creating their future. If you knew the source that walks beside you, believe me, there is nothing that you would fear, no mountain that you would not climb.
Today, may you begin to fly without wings…
